July 15th MLB Fun Fact: The 79th annual MLB All-Star Game was played on July 15, 2008. The game was played at Yankee Stadium and votes were led by A-Rod (AL) and Chase Utley (NL). Two records were broken in this game - how many total bases were stolen and how freakin’ long this game was.

Between the American and National Leagues, 7 bases were stolen, which was the most ever in an All-Star Game. The AL got 6 of them and the NL only one. Afterall, the American League won 4-3 in the end. The other crazy record was that this 2008 ASG was the longest one ever played. The game went into 15 innings and lasted just under 5 hours at 4 hours 50 minutes. The game started at 8:47pm ET in the Bronx and didn’t end until a lovely 1:38am ET - I hope no one subway’d alone after that.

Play of the Day:

  • 7/8: Trey Mancini Walk-Off for Orioles 6th Straight Win
  • 7/9: Alex Verdugo Walk-Off in Extras After Tying it in the 8th
  • 7/10: Austin Riley 12th Inning Walk-Off
  • 7/11: Albert Pujols Breaks Musial’s Record and Moves to 3rd All-Time in XBH 🫡

Absolute legend and hand-picked-by-Commissioner 2022 All-Star Albert Pujols, moves up to 3rd All-Time in extra base hits. He surpassed other Cardinal legend Stan Musial, bumping him down to fourth (still good). With 1,379 XBH in his career, Pujos' road to Cooperstown gets paved more every game.

  • 7/12: Miggy’s 40th Career Stolen Base 🥷

I feel like it's easier to count how many records Miggy hasn’t broken at this point. Another hand-picked-by-Commissioner 2022 All-Star reached his 40th career stolen base, it was also his first since 2020. Despite Miggy going hitless in the game on Monday, he produced a game tying sac fly and a go ahead ground ball. “You don’t think. When you go, you go.” - Rickey Henderson - Miguel Cabrera

  • 7/13: Orioles 10-Game Winning Streak for the First Time in 10 Years 🥳

There’s something going on in Camden Yards that is traveling with the team too! The O’s have locked in ten straight wins, they haven’t had a double-digit win streak since 1999. The team is now sitting at.500 in the AL East and they are having fun with it. Adley Rutschman brought a breath of fresh air to the team and everyone is playing their hearts out with him.
