May 13th MLB Fun Fact: May 13, 1929 was the first time in league history that both teams playing wore numbers on the back of their jerseys. It was a game at Cleveland Leagues Park between the Indians and Yankees, with the game ending in a 4-3 victory for the home team. After that, player numbers became a permanent fixture on jerseys for teams across MLB.
I know this comes as a big surprise—the Mets lead the NL East. The rest of the division leaders are (AL) Yankees, Twins, Angels and (NL) Brewers and Dodgers. The Dodgers only trail the Yankees in record (Yankees are 22-8 and Dodgers are 20-9) but of course, LA remains number one in power rankings.

Looks Inside the League
Play of the Day:
- 5/6: Acuńa Jr. First HR of Season
- 5/7: Acuńa Jr. Basketball HR Celebration
- 5/8: Rendon Walk Off
- 5/9: Josh Naylor Game-Tying Grand Slam 👨🚀
Right when you needed him most, Naylor stepped up. He is the first player in MLB history with eight RBI in the 8th inning or later. Picture this—top of the 9th, you’re down four runs with two outs, Josh Naylor enters the batter's box and crushes it. A bomb right to right-center field, grand slam, game tied and you enter extra innings. (p.s. He also hit a three-run bomb in the 11th).
- 5/10: Reid Detmers No-Hitter 🙅
Another youngin making history. 22-year-old Detmers threw the Angels 12th no-hitter in franchise history against the Rays, making it the second no-hitter of the 2022 season. Detmers went nine with a total of 108 pitches, ending the game in a 12-0 victory. I wonder what it's like to toss a no-hitter after only playing 10 major league games.
- 5/11: Christian Yelich Hits for Cycle 🔄
I’m not sure if you expected this to be a lower or higher number but, the MLB all-time record for cycles in a career is three. Maybe you think it's right on the dot, because let's be real, how many triples have you really seen? On Wednesday, Yelich hit his third career cycle, adding him to the exclusive list of players who have three in their career. Exclusive meaning he is the 5th MLB player to ever do it. Does hitting all three cycles again the same team make it extra exclusive?
- 5/12: Stanton 2 HR Game vs White Sox
Congrats on the major league debuts of the week! 🎉
- Royce Lewis - Minnesota Twins
- Ryan Pepiot - Los Angeles Dodgers
- George Kirby - Seattle Mariners
- Alek Thomas - Arizona Diamondbacks
