May 6th MLB Fun Fact: On May 6, 1915, Red Sox pitcher Babe Ruth smashed his first of 714 big league home runs off Jack Warhop of the Yankees at the Polo Grounds.
We’re officially one month into baseball season - thankfully we’ve got about six months left! Across both leagues, the teams continue to do the cupid shuffle for division lead, few of them staying on top for more than a week.
Week 1 (4/14):
- AL → Yankees, White Sox, Astros
- NL → Mets, Cubs, Rockies
Week 2 (4/21):
- AL → Blue Jays, Guardians, Angels
- NL → Mets, Cardinals, Dodgers
Week 3 (4/28):
- AL → Yankees, Twins, Angels
- NL → Mets, Brewers, Giants
Week 4 (5/5):
- AL → Yankees, Twins, Angels
- NL → Mets, Brewers, Dodgers
Special shoutout to the Mets - only team to remain number 1. 🦀
The Los Angeles Dodgers still remain the favorite to win it all, staying atop the power rankings. Judging by their lineup, you can clearly see why - they just need to remain healthy.
Inside the Candy Factory 🍭
First and foremost….packs! As you may know by now, we highly value our community's feedback and venture to improve our products, deepening our connection with collectors. We are please to share the following updates to the 2022 MLB ICON Leadoff Series with you.
The full announcement can be found here. Here are the highlights:
- Starting with Lineup 3, 2022 MLB ICON Leadoff Series packs will now cost $30 USD instead of $50 USD. The number of NFTs per pack (5) will not change.
- Pack airdrop: for every pack purchased on the primary market by EOD today, users will be airdropped an additional pack from that respective Lineup (meaning we will match the number of packs you buy). The airdrop will take place on Monday 5/9.
- Originally, there were 720 players included in the full series - now there are only 630. The 90 players we removed had a rarity ceiling of Uncommon. There will be no decrease in the amount of Legendary, Epic, or Rare ICONs.
- Lineup Dates: drops will continue through May into June, with the next being Tuesday, May 10.
- Evolution Collection Challenge 🔥 - Candy is welcoming a burning mechanism to future challenges in conjunction with a new category of collection challenges! Coming with the heat of the summer, fans will be able to burn their ICONs for a new rarity. 😏 We’re excited about the new collecting dynamics this will introduce, and will share more details in the coming weeks.

Looks Inside the League
Play of the Day:
- 4/29: Mets First Franchise Combined No-Hitter 🍎
Clear the dugout! Clear the bullpen! History was made on Friday in Flushing. The first combined no-hitter in franchise history was completed by Tylor Megill, Drew Smith, Joely Rodríguez, Seth Lugo, and Edwín Diaz. After the final strikeout in the top of the ninth, Citi Field exploded, Gatorade showers were raining, and core memories were made.
- 4/30: Clayton Kershaw Breaks Dodgers K Record
- 5/1: Julio Rodriguez 1st Career HR
- 5/2: Michael A. Taylor Robs HR at Busch Stadium 👑
I’m not gonna hold you, as a Cardinals fan this one kinda hurt - but a more than deserved Play of the Day title for Taylor. Knizer hit a bomb headed directly for the seats in deep center field when Taylor scaled the wall to steal the dinger. A Gold Glove play and potential frontrunner for Catch of the Year.
- 5/3: Bobby Witt Jr. First Career HR
- 5/4: Javier Baez Between the Legs Play 🤸🏽♂️
Javy Baez out there doing the most - diving, sliding, gymnastics? At the top of the fourth, Baez takes out David Vogelbach with another insane defensive play. Diving stop, facing the outfield, passed between the legs to Jeimer Candelario at second to nab Ben Gamel at first. Toss in a couple of somersaults, maybe a jump kick and a bow and we’ve got at least a bronze medal for floor in the Olympics.
- 5/5: The Mets Complete the Late-Inning Comeback
Congrats on the major league debuts of the week! 🎉
- MJ Melendez
- Jose Miranda
